This project captures people’s memories of what the Grand building means to them and shines a light on their stories using photographs and interviews, exploring how the building has evolved over the years to where it is today, how it has captured the hearts of many and what the future will look like. This project also explores the importance of such an iconic place and how it develops within an ever-changing city to remain a building that encourages everybody to visit and experience something new.
My most significant memory of the Grand is when I was a child and our class got invited to watch a show. When we came to the performance, I remember just being glued to what was happening, the actors, how dramatic and talented they were - it blew me away.

I work for an organisation called The Chinese in Wales Association and my strongest memories of the Grand are associated with the work that we do. The organization recently moved into the Grand Multicultural Hub and established an office in the Arts Wing.

My first memory of the Grand was coming here to attend events organized by Race Council Cymru. The inspiration and motivation to put together our group, The Nigerian in Wales Association, came from Race Council Cymru and participating in their events.

I remember the Grand Theatre used to put opera on even way back in the ’80s. I must say I love the theatre and in particular the opera. So, my first memories of the Grand are attending different shows and performances.
