Before the establishment of the Grand Multicultural Hub my first memories of the Grand are associated with the African Community Centre (ACC). I started to work with ACC and joined many social activities and projects, I remember Windrush, Black History and some cultural activity with the local authorities.

To me the Grand is helpful, interesting and a happy place. In the Grand, if you are ethnic like me, you can find lots of information about the government and local authorities but you can also socialise with other diverse community members.

My husband, Moodie told me about this organisation, that organises activities for women in the Grand. I remember once there was a project where women from different nationalities would cook their own traditional food. It was a great project as we could learn from each other and experience something different.

But the main thing I would like to organise with our Turkish community is a music group to play instruments and learn how to dance. My community would like that, we need it because we love music and dance.

Many Turkish families would love to teach their children how to dance and play musical instruments such as piano or violin. Even I would love to learn. In our culture we have so many different dances. I remember few years ago there was a belly dance event to which I went to.

Activities like that are extremely important as it emotionally and physically helps diverse people. Diverse arts, culture and events are very important as it helps the diverse communities to integrate and gives them a chance to socialise. It makes them happy.
